Overview

Smokva’s mission is to bring a diverse group of Newcastle’s inner west residents together in a beautiful community garden to, provide social opportunities, education and to grow and distribute healthy food on a neighbourhood scale.

Purpose

To help Smokva Community Garden fund the purchase of plants, seeds, and the equipment they need to keep their gorgeous garden thriving.

Long-term goals

Smokva Community Garden is a volunteer-led organisation that relies on donations to continue to operate. The continued operation of the community garden in Wickham will have the following outcomes:

  • reduced food miles
  • food production education and food security
  • improved local ecology
  • opportunities for the community to engage with, and appreciate nature
  • improved air and soil quality
  • reduced neighbourhood waste through composting
