Description

Overview

By preventing food waste through innovative ideas and initiatives, Feedback Organic are helping to solve the global problem of food waste.

A circular approach that’s converting food waste into food is one that ticks so many boxes!

Purpose

According to the Australian Government, food waste has significant economic and environmental impacts:

  • 1/3 of the world’s food is wasted.
  • 25% of water used in agriculture is used to grow food that is ultimately wasted – throwing away one burger wastes the same amount of water as a 90 minute shower
  • 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions are produced by food waste.

In order to address this issue, Feedback Organic has piloted a version of food waste management and urban food production that has improved upon the outdated approach in use across Australia and parts of the world.

This process involves:

  • Collecting food waste from local restaurants, cafes, and households and converting it into nutrient rich, sustainably produced compost.
  • Converting urban spaces into urban farms.
  • Distributing food grown in urban farms to the local community.
  • Running educational awareness programs in schools, corporations, and the wider community.

Your kind contributions will help Feedback Organic operate sustainably into the future, and will help prevent food waste in our local area.
